To ensure you take advantage of all the possibilities our made-to-order furniture offers, we offer three tiers of design assistance: individual product design, single room layouts, and complete furnishing project plans.
Our design services are available in our store or through the internet, so don’t worry if you are unable to visit us in person! We complete design plans for clients all across the U.S. using the phone, email, and internet.
We work with clients that need either a little bit of help or would appreciate more extensive support when designing their homes.
What level of design support are you looking for?
Individual Product Design & Selection
Our experienced sales consultants will walk you through our step-by-step design process to ensure you find the right product and options to fit your needs. Advice on individual colors and fabrics is available for all orders and this level of support is included in our retail prices.
|Custom Sizes: The majority of our furniture is made-to-order and available in custom sizes and configurations. Using the product information on our website as a guide, we are able to modify and re-design our products to satisfy almost any requirement. Detailed estimates and sales orders are provided for each order. CAD drawings and/or renderings of individual products are available for a modest charge.
Paint & Stain Samples: We offer an extensive array of standard paint and stain options for most of our furniture collections. Custom colors are typically available for an upcharge. Actual finish options are always sent out to confirm final selections. Samples can be requested by email, phone or on relevant product website pages. We also have several of the more popular paint decks in office to assist in coordinating with existing room colors. There is no charge for paint samples, we ask that you simply return the samples once a choice has been made.
Fabric Samples: Available for all of our upholstery, slipcover & wicker collections, fabric samples can be requested by phone, email or through our website. We are happy to help with selecting coordinating fabric options. COM (customer’s own material) is also an option for most collections. Fabric cuttings are free of charge and yours to keep.
Rug Samples: Most of our rugs are available in a sample size. Please request a rug sample before ordering a rug to ensure color and to avoid any return restocking fees. Our designers are here to assist in coordinating rugs with existing room colors or fabrics. Samples can be requested through our website, by phone or by email. A $25 deposit is required for each rug sample, which can either be refunded or credited towards a rug purchase when returned to Cottage Home.
Single Room Layouts
Using our rugs, fabrics, and paint/stain colors, we are able to create a custom color package for furnishings in any room. In addition to individual product design, this service includes a personalized room layout, furniture selection assistance, rug options and/or coordinating fabrics and paint selections – all compiled by our in-house interior designers specifically for you. This level of support is included in our retail prices.
We’ve found the best way to start a color package is to choose a rug or fabric(s) as a jumping off point. There are endless possibilities for wall color, making it easy to match your walls to your color plan. Once a focal point(s) has been established, we coordinate color/fabric/rug options in a color package for your review and consideration.

This level of design service is for those clients who need assistance with multiple rooms or an entire home. Whether we meet you in person, or on the phone, we are able to provide a full furnishing design plan based on your unique style and individual aesthetic. We also provide the project management to organize all deliveries and on location installation.
Where to start? First, provide your decorating vision, full room dimensions, and photos if available. We then develop possible layout, rug, fabric, and color options for an initial design review meeting. Based on our design meeting(s), a specific furnishing proposal is developed for final approval and implementation. We request a deposit of $500 for a detailed furnishing plan, which can then be applied to your project furnishing orders. The deposit is non-refundable. Furnishing plans do no specifically include lamp or accessory selections, but we can make suggestions if requested. We can also make recommendations on wall colors.
Commercial Projects: Hotels, Restaurants, Conference Rooms
In addition to retail sales and design projects, we have also assisted clients with made-to-order furniture for commercial projects. Projects we have completed include: tables & chairs for a hotel restaurant, a 40′ custom conference table for an venture company, complete room packages for a bed & breakfast, and sofas, tables & bedroom furniture for a large resort.
